What is the silkscreen printing method?

Today, in the printing industry, silk screen printing machines are among the most widely used printing machines for various industries in the world, which have created a huge revolution in the business of manufacturers and factories. Silk screen printing is a popular printing method and, in simple terms, silk screen printing is a process in which an image is printed on the desired piece by means of ink pressure passing over a mesh. Also, the use of advanced automatic silk screen printing machines and special colors has a great impact on the quality of printing.

The most important advantage of silk screen printing is its flexibility, which by choosing different types of fabrics with different network structure holes, the amount of printing ink that is transferred to the printable surface and the thickness of the printed color can be changed.

Applications of silk screen printing

It should be noted that unlike other printing methods where the cost of printing depends on the print run, in this printing there is no limit to the print run and it is both very economical and applicable for different print runs. In the silk screen printing method, like the tampo printing method, it is possible to print on various industrial and decorative parts or promotional gifts. Using round or flat screen printing machines, it is possible to print on various types of plastic, leather, metal, glass, cardboard, porcelain and ceramic parts, various boxes and cases, metal sheets, household appliances, CDs, clothing, cosmetics and hygiene products, disposable food containers and other surfaces.

Measures after silk screen printing

After the silk screen printing operation is completed, in order to stabilize the color, the print on the parts must be dried. This is done in three general ways: the first method is to tie the pieces together, which is like hanging clothes, the second method is to use rack dryers that allow a large number of pieces to be stacked in a small space and the air circulates between its different floors, and the third method is to use thermal dryers, which in this method also increases the drying speed of the print and can be packaged immediately after the piece is removed from the dryer.

History of Silk Screen Printing

The word silk means silk and the silk screen printing method was first used in Japan, at that time silk fabrics were used for printing and that is why this method became known as silk. Today, this printing method has a special place in the industry. With today’s silk screen printing machines, it is possible to print on objects with circular and flat shapes, which is unique among printing methods.

Advantages and disadvantages

One of the best advantages of this method is the ease of printing. Also, the cost of printing each piece in this method is very affordable and another important feature of this method is the possibility of printing on different types of objects.

However, any printing method can also have disadvantages, the disadvantages of this method include the low speed of printing in high circulation and the low resolution and final quality of printing (of course, compared to other more advanced methods such as laser).
